A National Park since 1957, Bako offers the perfect introduction to Sarawak’s
forests and wildlife. Bako contains a wide range of vegetation – swamp forest,
scrub-like padang vegetation, mangrove forest, dipterocarp forest, delicate
cliff vegetation and more.   In fact, at Bako it is possible to see almost every
type of vegetation found in Borneo. Bako also contains a rich variety of wildlife
and a coastline covered with small bays, coves and beaches.  The park has a
number of well-marked trails offering interesting walks ranging from short
pleasant strolls to serious full-day hikes.  Unlike some national parks, visitors
to Bako are almost guaranteed to see wildlife.  Long-tailed macaque monkeys
and silver leaf monkeys are ever present, wild boar are often found
rummaging around the park HQ, squirrels and monitor lizards are also
common. There is every chance of seeing the rare and unusual proboscis
monkeys on trails such as Telok Paku and Telok Delima, You are more likely
to see wildlife if you quietly follow the trails and keep listening.

We would recommend long sleeved t – shirts and trousers, comfortable hiking boots, large brimmed hat or cap, sunglasses and a light rain coat/ Poncho

Mosquito repellent, small personal first aid kit, spare t – shirt, camera, hand phone, copy of your passport’s photo ID page, spare batteries, Lens, light rain coat/ Poncho, Day Bag, anything else you cant do with out.

No, not here but Bako offers a wide variety of wildlife to compensate for that.

Yes, you can but without a guide, you will miss so much more.

Severn hours.

Yes, you can as long as it is being used for person use only.

No, not at this time.

Yes, you can but only if it is kept out of sight of the monkeys…Very cheeky the Long Tailed Macaque

Yes, you can, from the small café/ shop within the park but please do not walk around with it in your hand or on display to the monkeys.

Yes, toilets are at the café and shop area and the HQ

There are a few crocodiles roaming around there so be carful, an abundance of birds, Proboscis, Silver Leaf and Long Tailed Macaque. Snakes, Exotic Flowers etc

Just 45minutes if the traffic is in your favor.

Once you have arrived at the jetty HQ and signed in there you will be divided up in to boat buddies. . .Normally just four pax per boat plus guide and driver.

The crossing is only possible if the tide is with you and safe for the boat to go across to Bako’s peninsular. You may be required to get out and walk through the shallows as you reach the HQ jetty at the park due to Low Tide, so be prepared. Your guide will give you plenty of waring.

Only the bearded pig seem to be trustworthy, the monkeys will rob you blind, pull your hair, steal your food, caps and glasses. As for the rest of the critters in the park…please remember these are wild animals so do not touch what you do not understand.

You can book a tour with Borneo Experiences on line or call into the Singgahasana Lodge in Kuching and book from there.
