Wildlife

The Borneo tropical rainforests and climate provide ideal conditions for a wide variety of species to thrive. Tall Dipterocarp trees hold the greatest insect diversity on Borneo with as many as 1,000 species in just 1 tree.

Our iconic Orangutans share the forests with 12 other primate species, including 2 gibbon species, 5 langurs, 2 macaques, the tarsier, the slow loris, and the unique endangered proboscis monkey.

Borneo's great diversity of flora and fauna exists throughout the island, a great concentration of wildlife including the Borneo Pygmy Elephants occurs in the North-Eastern part of the island. Other notable creatures include the Clouded Leopard, Civet Cats, Sun Bears, Borneo Bay Cat and an inexhaustible list more.
