Mt. Kinabalu ‘Walk the Torq’ or Low’s Peak Circuit ‘Via Ferrata’ Experience (2D1N)

The world’s highest VIA FERRATA (or ‘iron road’ in Italian), which is also Asia’s first VIA FERRATA, is located at Mt Kinabalu’s Panalaban rock face. It starts at 3,400 meters and ends at 3,800 meters.

The Mt Kinabalu VIA FERRATA is devised to give climbers with little or no climbing experience access to rock faces and views enjoyed only by mountaineers and rock climbers. Traversing a mountain path consisting of a series of rungs, rails and cables as well as a 22 meters suspended footbridge at 3,600 meters elevation, this is surely to be an adventure of a lifetime.



Day 1 – 7 am pick up from your hotel for leisurely drive to Mt. Kinabalu Park (1,500 meters) Meet your Mountain Guide (in front of the souvenir shop) at Park HQ and set off and up Mt Kinabalu and enjoy a packed lunch enroute. Estimated to arrive Laban Rata (3,200 meters) at 2:30 pm and check into Pendant Hut (3,250 meters) half an hour later. Spend the rest of the afternoon with your trainer for the VIA FERRATA familiarisation and briefing. Dinner will be at Laban Rata after which you will trek back to Pendant Hut for an overnight stay. (Lunch & Dinner)

Day 2 – Early start at 1:30 am for supper and proceed hike up to Low’s Peak (4,095 meters) for sunrise at 5:30 am.  Afterwards descend to meet trainer at Sayat Sayat Hut (3,600 meters) for Walk the Torq or at the 7.5km mark for Low’s Peak Circuit – Asia’s first Via Ferrata. Expect to arrive back at Pendant Hut at 10 am. After breakfast and check out, commence trek back down to Mt. Kinabalu Park headquarters for onwards transfer back to Kota Kinabalu at 4 pm. (Supper & Late Breakfast)

  • Note 1: Staying in the non-heater bunk bed accommodation could be very cold sometimes. It is advisable to bring along your own sleeping bag or you can rent that at the rest house, at your own cost.
